The Tree Lab is an innovative tree nursery based near Crieff in rural Perthshire. By using vertical farming technology we are able to rapidly produce healthy forest reproductive material, helping meet stock shortages and deliver accelerated rewilding programmes.
Our Story
The Tree Lab is a tree nursery business founded by Graeme Warren, Eric Fetter and Chris McConville, bringing their interest and experience in land management, forestry, agriculture, sustainably managed woodland and indoor growing.

We are focussed on production of high-quality rare and native trees and related stock, working with local projects and land managers.
We are working on the development of knowledge of indoor growing as part of the tree nursery process – understanding the ability to accelerate growth and overcome dormancy restrictions.
We seek to produce in a sustainable way – energy use will be minimised and where possible, obtained from renewable
sources. Harvested rainwater, grow media and nutrients will be minimised in closed loop systems.
We work with local landowners to support re-generation and re-wilding projects by giving the best start for locally collected seed and growing hard to source trees.
